I stamped the images from the "Newton's Birthday Bash" set in Versamark ink and heat embossed them all in black on various materials.  Then I pieced each of the different materials together with lots of adhesive to form my scene.
The kitty in the birthday bag is made from cork, wood paper, and vellum.  I colored both the cork and the back of the vellum with alcohol markers to add a little detail (and make her look like my kitten Blooter).  The gift bag is made from wood veneer paper and surrounded by confetti stamped from the same stamp set.
The other kitty was stamped and colored on cork (DCWV) and pieced around a balloon made of metallic cardstock.  I added loops of baker's twine for the balloon string and adhered it to the card front using Matte Multi Medium from Ranger.  All patterned papers are from the Simple Stories DIY Boutique collection.
I have to say this was my first time using cork on a card and it was remarkably easy to work with.  I love how the embossing turned out and it cuts perfectly and easily by hand.  I predict that I'll be shoving this through my Silhouette soon to see what else I can make.
Thanks for stopping by!
I am also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge found here.
